A charity Dinner Dance was organised to raise funds for SYNERGY CENTRE FOR COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT.
The event was held in the C&L COUNTRY CLUB located in the beautiful surrundings of Northolt, Middlesex.
The event was held on the 28th June 2008.
The programme started with a show of hundreds of pictures taken on the ground in Batticaloa & Jaffna. It covered Co-Counselling activties, SYNERGY KIDS Clubs and the two SYNERGY Centres, training progammes and a wide range of activities in the tsunami affected villages.......
Menna Selvanayagam introduced Sushila Raja, Director of SYNERGY CCE who explained the vision, mission and activiies of SYNERGY CCE.
This was followed by a presentation by Mr Gurunathan from the CENTRE for COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT and the partnership between the two organisations and village re-generation work in Navalady village in Batticaloa.
Dinah Barton, a Homeopathy practitioner, explained the Co-counselling and trauma counselling carried out in Kalmunai and how that had enhanced their work.
This was followed by a scrumptious meal served by the C&L Country Club.
BREEZE, the popular music group entertained the 250 people gathered and soon had them dancing to Bob Marley, Rock & Roll, Baila and Tamil pop songs.......
- Funds were secured for the project
- Optometric equipment were donate to the Centre to be handed over to the hospitals in Sri Lanka
- Indviduals have pledged to fund some projects
